Ski Venezuela
Located in the northern reaches of South America, Venezuela is a land of extremes. The country boasts one of the longest rivers and the largest lakes on the
continent, the world’s highest waterfall, dense jungles and the snowy Andean peaks in the west. Venezuela also comes with beaches and the capital of Caracas
is a lively and exciting place, while skiing can be enjoyed between November and June. The only ski resort in Venezuela is at the university town of Merida
in the west of the country. Merida is known for its nightlife and good value for money, while it also boasts the world’s highest cable car at Mirror Peak,
with an altitude in excess of 13,000 feet.
The Sierra Nevada National Park offers skiing at Merida ski resort between November and June. Caracas-Maiquetia
International Airport receives flights from the US and the UK, although flying here from other South American countries can be difficult. You can travel here
overland from Colombia and Brazil, but there are dangers involved with coming from Colombia. You can also get to Venezuela by sea from the US via Mexico.
There are several domestic airports located in Venezuela’s major cities that are served by one major domestic airline, while several regional carriers
operate routes to out-of-the-way cities. Railways are in short supply in Venezuela, but there is a vast bus network offering fast and cheap travel
