Ski Clothing and Accessories

Winter sports are extremely popular due to their inherent excitement and adventure. They are also a great way of keeping fit whilst having a good time. Winter sports include ice hockey, skiing, snowboarding amongst others. Of these, Skiing is extremely popular. For all winter sports it is essential to keep warm, not only a comfort, but as a safety issue. You cannot perform your best unless you are comfortable. If you are inadequately dressed your body will have to spend valuable energy keeping warm. It is therefore important to ensure you have the right equipment.

The most important thing to remember when taking part in winter sports is to layer effectively. It is important to keep both warm and dry and your layers should ensure this is the case. For your bottom layers try to avoid cotton clothing, this will cling and weigh you down should it get wet. Instead try to buy wool or silk. It is a good idea to buy waterproof trousers to keep the water out. Make sure they are big enough, it is a common mistake to buy these items too small only to find they are not comfortable once they have been fitted over your ski boots. Brands such as Quiksilver and Protest have some high quality waterproof options. For your outside layer, make sure you have a waterproof jacket. It is important to ensure you have a jacket that is made of high quality that won`t let the water in, whatever the weather conditions. Therefore it is generally advisable to purchase a well known brand name such as Quiksilver, Santa Cruz or Rip curl.

If you are worried about feeling too hot or humid, buy breathable layers. This can make all the difference when you are skiing, there are many winter sports items available that are designed especially to keep water out but that also let air in. It is also important to consider accessories such as sunglasses or goggles. This is important to protect your eyes against powerful UV rays and protect you from other elements such as wind or snow.

Ensure your head is covered as well as your hands and feet. Make sure you wear a hat, gloves and sufficiently thick socks. Then if you are too warm, you can simply remove a hat or gloves. Hats and gloves needn`t look bulky or unstylish. Visit a quicksilver clothes shop to find the latest hot winter sports fashions that will have you looking stylish as you head down the slopes
