Alpe d'Huez is in the Southern Alps, at an altitude of 1860m, about one hour from Grenoble. Its a warm resort, wonderfully chaotic in design combining some old traditional buildings with a modern town. It is known for it's great weather - it has an average of 300 days a year of sun - and its numerous attractions, such as a superb modern sports centre and a huge flood lit slope, which serves as a slalom course, a snow park and a children's play area.
As well as its fair share of bars, restaurants it has a nightclub and a pizzeria, open until 7am! You should immediately notice the friendliness of this Southern resort which makes visitors come back year-on-year.
Skiing - The resort is linked to the villages of Villard-Reculas, Vaujany, Oz and Auris, creating a vast ski area (220km of slopes). The panoramic views, good weather, well-kept nursery slopes and numerous black slopes make it a good resort for skiers of all levels. For the advanced skier there are black runs including “The Sarenne” the longest black run in Europe at 16km. There are also a number of famous off-piste descents.
