La Tania - 3 Valleys, France
La Tania is situated midway between Courchevel and Méribel at 1350m. It was purpose built in 1992 as a satellite of Courchevel. It has now become one of the best value resorts, with the added bonus of immediate access to Les Trois Vallees ski area (the largest linked skiing domain in the world).
Nestled between two traditional hamlets La Tania has to be one of the cosiest purpose built resorts. The architecture consists mainly of traditional style chalets with a few apartment blocks built in a form that blends into the forest backdrop. Most of the holiday accommodations are newly built in a rustic style with good facilities. There isn't an abundance of activities for non-skiers but the few bars and restaurants that are there get very animated and are well positioned around a central focal point creating a warm and friendly atmosphere with a strong sense of community. La Tania is ideal for large groups or families and is popular with Dutch and British skiers.
Skiing - La Tania shares its slopes with Courchevel and is part of the 3 Valleys, making it ideal if you are going on holiday with a group of mixed levels. The nursery slopes in La Tania are close to the sunny pavement bars and restaurants, which great for beginners and parents wanting to supervise their children. There are several tree-lined runs in the vicinity, which give protection and visibility when the weather conditions are poor. Experienced skiers will be challenged by black runs such as the «Jockeys », the « Fruit bowl junction » and the « Ugly Sisters ». The extended area Trois Vallées pass (Three Valleys) will open up 600km of pistes. As with the other resorts in the three valleys, with such large skiing terrain, you have to be sure you are back on the correct side of the valley before the lifts shut to avoid having to hitch a ride or pay an extortionate taxi fare!
