PARK CITY HOSTS FINAL WEEKEND OF THE 2008 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL
PARK
CITY, UTAH (January 2008) – The 2008 Sundance Film Festival closes this
Sunday, January 27, 2008 in Park City, Utah. The last weekend includes
their Closing Film, presented this evening, Friday, January 25, which
is the world premiere of Neil Young's CSNY “Déjà Vu.” This film
examines the band’s connection to its audience through the political
and musical arenas, with a look at today’s political atmosphere as
compared with the energy surrounding the Vietnam conflict. On Saturday
evening, the Festival’s annual Awards Ceremony takes place announcing
competition and non-competition (Audience Awards) selections.
The
2008 Festival runs from January 17-27, 2008 in Park City, Salt Lake
City, Sundance, and Ogden, Utah. Around 40,000 visitors descend to
Park City for the festival and town is bustling from the early hours of
the morning to the late hours of the night. The Festival continues
through this weekend, presenting 125 dramatic and documentary feature
films in seven categories, as well as 70 short films, to the film
industry and public filmgoers.
Bill Malone, Executive Director
of the Park City Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau, notes, “An
insider’s tip that more visitors have realized lately is that it is a
great time to ski in Park City with the resorts seeing less traffic
than usual, especially when looking at the number of people occupying
town. People are working within the industry and going to films
throughout the day and not able to focus on getting time on the snow.”
